FIRST ENGLISH TOURNAMENT ERA

Before the modern TCG, Bandai launched The Quest Begins CCG in September 2005 across English-language markets with an ambitious organized-play program. Japan’s One Piece card scene kept growing, but overseas the world hadn’t caught up yet. The window was brief, the rewards were scarce, and much of what happened is still being reconstructed today.
The same promo cards can carry different organized-play markings. The mark tells you how and where the card was awarded. Meijin were Bandai “Masters” who taught the game and ran events.
U.S. winner cards pair a silver-foil Jolly Roger and silver name text with the TOURNAMENT WINNER mark. Australian versions retain the winner designation with a black, non-foil Jolly Roger.
